Air India is the flag carrier airline of India, headquartered at New Delhi. It is owned by Air India Limited, a government-owned enterprise, and operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 102 domestic and international destinations. Air India was founded by J.R.D Tata, Jehangir  Ratanji  Dadabhoy Tata, was an Indian aviator, entrepreneur and chairman of Tata Group ,son of noted businessman Ratanji Dadabhoy .He was born in  Paris, France. He is also known as the ‘Father of Civil Aviation’ in India. The managing director cum Chief Executive officer of the ‘Air India Limited’ is Mr. Ashwani Lohani which is the parent organization of Air India. ‘Air India Limited’ is a business enterprise which is owned cum founded by the Central Government of India  and  had been also been named ‘ National Aviation Company’ before,  but on 26 October, 2020 it was renamed as ‘Air India’ in order to look after the merger of the’ Indian Airlines company’ and ‘Air India’ now for those of you who don’t know the meaning of ‘Merger’ then you can just relate it with the the word ‘Merge’ so merger means a combined business enterprise formed of two or more business enterprises. Now both the aviation enterprises are owned by J.R.D Tata only. Some of it’s subsidiaries are Air India Express’ and ‘Alliance Air’.
